What are the dimensions of the GemBoxes?

Petite: 4” round x 3” high
Small: 6” round x 3 3/4” high

How many serving per GemCake?

Petite: 1 serving
Small: 4 to 6 servings
Medium: 8 to 10 servings
Large: 12 to 16 servings

How are GemCakes packaged and shipped?

GemCakes are individually wrapped and carefully tucked into each GemBox. Our specially designed shipping cartons are added protection that each GemCake and beautiful GemBox arrives in perfect condition.

How should I store my GemCake when it arrives?

Our GemCakes are lusciously moist. Removing them from their satin GemBoxes and storing them in an air tight container is best. We recommend refrigerating or freezing the Luscious Lemon GemCakes, Double Chocolate Chip, and Lemon-Cranberry Swirl after 3 days. The cherry brandy spritzed on the Chocolate GemCakes acts as a preservative. We still suggest refrigerating or freezing after one week.

What is your delivery schedule?

GemCakes are shipped Monday through Wednesday using UPS 2nd day delivery, arriving Wednesday through Friday. Overnight delivery is possible any day and must be used for Thursday shipments. Please call to schedule overnight deliveries. We do not offer Saturday delivery. Because our cakes are perishable, it’s best that you schedule delivery for a day that someone will be able to accept the shipment or if it’s a surprise, let them know to be expecting a “special delivery”.

Where do you deliver?

We deliver everywhere in the US, including Hawaii and Alaska (additional charge).

Will I be able to select a delivery date?

Yes. During the check out process, you will have the option of selecting a shipping address and desired delivery date for each item in your order. If you do not select a date, we will ship your GemCake as soon as possible. Please note that we cannot ship a cake on the same day it is ordered.

Will I be billed for cakes ordered now that are scheduled to be shipped at various times throughout the year?

No, you will be billed 3-5 days prior to the scheduled shipping date.

Will I be able to track my package?

You will receive an email confirming and thanking you for your GemCake order. When your package is shipped, another email will be sent with your UPS tracking number and instructions on how to track your package.

We work closely with UPS to ensure an effortless delivery. UPS delivers as late as 7:00pm and during holiday rushes it can be later.

How do I place several orders going to different addresses online?

During the check out process, you will have the option to select a separate shipping address for each item in your shopping cart. If you have any questions about shipping to multiple addresses, feel free to contact us by phone toll free at 877-693-3891.

How do I place quantity orders going to the same address?

Contact us directly. That way we can provide you with the most cost effective means of packaging and shipping your order.

Can I visit your boutique bakery to place an order and pickup my order?

Yes! For our Peoria, Illinois customers, we’d love to help you with your selections. Appointments are absolutely necessary, so please call us at 309-693-3891 before arriving. Orders that will be picked up can be ordered on line simply by selecting the "Local Pickup" shipping option. Our Peoria location is 8207 N Hale Ave. We’d love to meet you!

What is GemStone Confections liablility concerning delivery and shipping?

Gemstone Confections is not liable for damages caused by delivery delays due to weather or carrier vehicle and transportation problems. At the point of delivery we are not responsible for incorrect addresses provided during the ordering procedure, for the weather conditions at the location the shipping carton is left by the carrier or for lost or stolen merchandise.

What is your refund and return policy?

Our GemCakes are perishable therefore returns are not permitted. If you feel something needs our attention please contact us within 24 hours of delivery. Returns or refunds are not available for “change of mind” decisions involving color, style, design or flavor of GemBoxes, GemCakes, Brooches or GemCards.

Is your online ordering secure?

Yes! Our online secure server encrypts all of your information to ensure your credit and personal information is safe and secure during the ordering procedure.

What do you do with my personal information you collect?

Gemstone Confections will only use your personal information to process your order, to contact you regarding your order or for future Gemstone Confections’ notifications.

Do you offer cakes for restricted diets (fat-free, sugar-free, wheat-free)?

At this time we do not. Our baker is working with new recipes that may offer some of these options in the future. Please check our website again for new offerings.

Can I deliver a cake to a college or university? What about other institutions?

Most colleges (as with hotels and other places of business) have their own protocol for receiving packages. We recommend contacting the place to which you wish to send the gift cake and find out information regarding their on-site mail process. Most colleges/hotels/businesses will not give the UPS driver access to their grounds/facilities, so the package is generally received by a central location (front desk/mail center, etc). Once received, the mailing center will either deliver the package or alert the recipient of its arrival so they can pick it up. As our cakes are perishable, it is best to find out as much information as possible before ordering to ensure your gift is received in a timely manner (i.e., how to fill out the UPS shipping label properly, where specifically the cake will be delivered, who will sign for it, etc).

If no one is home at the time of delivery, will my gift cake be left at the front door?

Yes and No. Yes, if the UPS driver feels the house or area is “safe” to leave a package. This is left to the driver’s discretion. No, if an office or an apartment where public display or accessibility is apparent. This is both for safety and security reasons. A UPS door notice will be left to communicate that a package delivery has been attempted.

I have two discount codes; can I combine these offers?

No. Gemstone Confections discount policy does not allow two or more discounts to be combined. You will receive the higher of the two discounts.
